  1. Show up – This is who I want to be. If you’re not in the arena also getting your ass kicked I’m not interested in your feedback. Period.

  2. Cultivate Authenticity – It’s a practice, we choose it every hour of every day.

  3. Set Boundaries – What’s ok and what’s not. BIG – Boundaries need to be in place for me to stain in my Integrity and make the most Generous assumptions about you.

  4. Actively practice gratitude – make a gratitude journal or speak everyday about things you are grateful for.

  5. Embrace Vulnerability – Vulnerability is the birthplace of every positive emotion: Love, belonging, joy, empathy, innovation, creativity.

  6. Let go of perfection – perfection is fear-based.

  7. Explore your emotions – wait a minute and ask, “What is actually making me feel this way?”

  8. Build Shame Resilience – Shame corrodes the part of us that believes we can change. You should listen to the rest of this one.

  9. Risk Failure – no innovation or creativity has come without failure.

  10. Don’t have regrets – what if I would have shown up? And we are back to the start.

Finally, a quote via Brene (we are on a first name basis now) of Theodore Roosevelt:

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
